Il Session Border Controller e router aziendale SmartNode 5200 collega l'ampia gamma di prodotti IP PBX ai loro fornitori di servizi garantendo sicurezza e un elevato livello di efficienza nella rete VoIP. Collegando la LAN dell'azienda a un fornitore di servizi di telefonia Internet (ITSP), l'SN5200 crea un unico canale per i componenti multimediali, inclusi voce, video e dati. Attraverso il SIP Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA), lo SmartNode 5200 fornisce un'interfaccia comune alla rete del fornitore di servizi, risolvendo eventuali incompatibilità tra il SIP dell'IP PBX e il softswitch del fornitore di servizi. Il B2BUA isola inoltre la rete dall'esterno per nascondere gli indirizzi privati e la topologia di rete a fini di sicurezza; per una maggiore sicurezza, l'SN5200 include NAT compatibile con SIP e liste di controllo degli accessi ACL per mantenere comunicazioni sicure quando il traffico SIP attraversa il perimetro dell'azienda. Inoltre, le funzionalità di routing includono RIP v1/v2, protocollo di ridondanza del router virtuale (VRRP), interfacce loopback e tecniche avanzate come il routing basato su policy (PBR).
